The Medaus cycle path and Serbariu Mine

(The medaus are agro-pastoral settlement typical of this area of Sardinia)

This bike tour passes through the territory of Carbonia, rich in archaeological sites and small agricultural centres called 'medaus'. Carbonia was developed in 1937, during the twenty-year Fascist period, immediately after the creation of the large Sarbariu mine. The tour starts at the Museum of the Great Mine of Sarbariu. (it is possible to visit the mine, upon reservation and before the cycling tour). After visiting the Museum and the town we will head towards the agro-pastoral area with a stop at the medau Desogue and medaus "Brau" to visit the ESU winery and the small cheese factory "Sa Craberia". The winery is specialised in Carignano Rosso and Nero Miniera wines. The Cheese Factory in the production of goat products, such as milk, cheese and the famous goat yoghurt; winner of important national awards as the best artisan yoghurt.
